Redskins Make Moves

As most of you may have now heard, this past week the Washington Redskins made headlines by releasing 10 players. Some of these players were somewhat surprising. Although, 7 of the 10 players were over the age of thirty. This move was undoubtedly sparked by the need to clear the way for a number of younger players who will hopefully help to return the Redskins to the storied franchise that we know and love.

This list of cuts marks the first major move by the Redskins new leadership that is also known as Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan. The meddling Dan Snyder has supposedly yielded roster control to these two who actually know the game of football. Only time will tell if this proves to be true, but if the past is in any way indicative of the future it will not.

Of the cuts announced by the Redskins, I was most happy to see the departure of Antwaan Randle El. The overrated thirty something has plagued our special teams for far too long now with his negative yard returns and muffed punts. I will also no longer be subjected to his senseless celebrations following a three yard reception.

All in all I believe the cuts will ultimately prove to be beneficial granted Snyder can mind his own business. Check back later this week and we will discuss who is available to fill these gaps both around the league and in the upcoming draft.
